For my beat, I will be covering the Office of Resources for Disabled Students. People with mental and physical disabilities and the problems and challenges they face are often kept in the margins of society. For my first story, I want to find out more about the challenges that these students face getting around the CSU campus. Even though the buildings are handicap-accessible, the older buildings often present significant obstacles in how they were made to be this way.
Many students with disabilities have to work twice as hard as anyone else, if not harder, just to do the things that many of us take for granted. But is just getting around campus a hindrance that makes going to class more challenging than the exams?
